The opportunity has arisen to appoint a School Business Manager at St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary School.
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, experienced and enthusiastic SBM to join our highly-motivated SLT team.

As the SBM, you will play a key role in the development of both schools, with particular responsibility for the management of:

  • Effective safeguarding practices
  • Finances
  • Managing data in line with GDPR regulations
  • Health and Safety
  • Human resources
  • Management of teams

The Governing Body at St Peter and St Paul is made up of twelve governors. There are seven Foundation Governors, who are appointed by the bishop; the head teacher, who has volunteered to be a governor; one Teacher Governor elected by the teachers; one Representative Governor appointed by the Local Education Authority; and one Parent Governor elected by the parents of children attending the school. In a Voluntary Aided School, the majority of the governors must be Foundation Governors, and the chairman must be elected from their number.

One of the tasks of the Foundation Governors is to ensure that Catholic aims and principles are upheld in the school. The Representative Governors and the Foundation Governors share such tasks as the maintenance of good academic standards, and the pastoral welfare of pupils and staff.

All governors have a responsibility to see that the conduct and curriculum of the school is maintained effectively, to consider the needs of the school, and to make recommendations to the appropriate bodies concerning the financial and other measures needed to meet these requirements. Meetings of the full Governing Body are held throughout the year and meetings of the admissions, staffing finance, premises and curriculum sub-committees are additionally held when necessary.

The governors make all staff appointments in the school. They establish the criteria used in the admission of children to the school, and their application. It is their duty to deal with complaints, grievances or disciplinary measures that may arise. They are there to assist the head teacher and the staff in any way they can, by sharing in the life of the school, and giving encouragement and support to all school activities.
