Job overview

The Headteacher and Governors at Halton Lodge Primary School wish to appoint a very professional, confident and hard-working person to the role of School Business Manager at our school; following the impending retirement of the current, long-serving, post holder. We are looking to utilise the skills of a School Business Manager to help our school to run more efficiently; and to ensure that all of our teaching staff can focus on the standard of attainment and progress of the pupils at our school.  

We are looking for somebody who has:

  • a secure knowledge and understanding of how a cheque book school operates;
  • the ability to be responsible for the personnel management of support staff (including their appraisal);
  • experience of budgetary management and control within an organisation;
  • a good knowledge of the SIMS management system;
  • the capability to play a proactive role within the school’s Senior Leadership Team;
  • exceptional planning and organisational skills;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.


It is important for all applicants to also demonstrate that they meet all the essential aspects of the Person Specification, which are detailed on the last page of the Job Description.
