Job overview

We are looking to recruit a School Caretaker for The George Eliot School to start as soon as possible.  The position is full-time, 52 weeks per year and is on a shift basis:  6.30am - 2.30pm one week and 10.30am - 6.30pm another week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for

  •  the effective provision of caretaking, portering, cleaning and site maintenance routines 
  • responding to emergencies relating to the site as required.
  • Working under the direction of the Premises Manager, deliver caretaking services to all buildings forming the school site, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
  • Responsibility for undertaking minor or temporary maintenance repairs.
  • Routine and non-routine opening and closing and security of premises and grounds

George Eliot is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. A smaller than average-sized secondary school, George Eliot will provide 950 places for secondary students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The George Eliot High School opened in September 1961, set up as a new provision for the housing developments being built in the Nuneaton area. The school has expanded in size several times since then to accommodate its growing pupil numbers, most notably in 2002 when two new buildings were opened.
