Job overview

School Chaplain

3-5 days per week, term time only

Required from January 2023

Birkdale School seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and theologically trained Chaplain from January 2023 who has a heart and passion for young people. This post arises due to the current Chaplain taking up a post at another independent school.

Birkdale is a Christian school and has had a Chaplain for many years. We are using this opportunity to refresh the role and to increase the scope. For the first time, this will be a ‘whole school’ role, providing pastoral support and chaplaincy to Pre-Prep, Prep and the Senior School. The Christian faith is central to the ethos and values of the School.

We know that when people come together with different approaches and insights it can lead to a richer, and more creative environment. Ethnic minority groups are currently under-represented in our staff body. We actively encourage applications from candidates from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Birkdale School is less than 15 minutes’ drive from the Peak District National Park and Sheffield City Centre. It is situated close to the Universities. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Offers of appointment are subject to satisfactory DBS clearance.
