The new post of School Counsellor has arisen from recognition that the demands for counselling and specialist advice are growing. In a world that makes increasing emotional and social demands of us it is essential that schools provide an infrastructure of emotional and social support to underpin wellbeing.

About Foremarke School Dubai

Foremarke is currently a Prep School catering from Nursery (FS1) to Year 8.  This is an exciting time to join us as we rebrand as Repton School Al Barsha and move to an all-through school, extending into Year 9 to 13.

We are a well-resourced Apple Distinguished School with exceptional sporting facilities, seeking to achieve the best from every pupil both academically and in extra-curricular activities which is a key aspect of the school program.

The school was rated Very Good with several outstanding features in the most recent DSIB inspection.

Foremarke, boasts state of the art facilities and is situated at the heart of ‘New Dubai’ in the Dubai Science Park, Barsha South. It offers the academic rigour of the UK National Curriculum within an inclusive family environment. The School is built on the twin foundations of academic excellence and the highest standards of pastoral care.


Main Responsibilities 

  • To provide an independent and confidential counselling offer to students and staff at Repton School Al Barsha, through individual sessions, responding to personal, social, emotional or educational concerns as needed 
  • To be the safeguarding lead across the campus 
  • To promote a caring and supportive environment where such concerns may be explored, thereby promoting the mental and emotional health at Repton School 
  • To provide high-quality counselling support to students and staff experiencing a range of emotional and/or social problems 
  • To promote student success by providing preventative care and advice 
  • To provide all necessary support, in consultation with the other school leaders, in order for the school to fulfil its aims 
  • To contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people


Successful candidates will have: 

  • Experience leading social skills groups, supporting emotional regulation and supporting children with anxiety 
  • Knowledge of how local mental health and CAMHS works in the UK, or equivalent experience and expertise overseas 
  • An awareness of the diversity of needs of people from a range of ethnic, cultural and social background 
  • Knowledge of the Children’s Act, Wadeema’s Law and other legislation pertaining to children 
  • A degree in Counselling, Psychology or similar 
  • A minimum 2 years full-time experience working with pupil and/or young people in an education, pupil protection or counselling environment 
  • Be at least 24 years old
