Contract Type: Term time only – 1 Year Fixed Term in the first instance  

We are seeking to appoint a qualified counsellor with experience of working with young people 11-16 and their families to enable us to provide onsite support and counselling to students and to broaden the support and services which we are able to offer to pupils, parents and staff. 

The school counsellor’s primary duty will be the counselling of students aged 11-16; other duties include support for staff and work with parents. The counsellor will liaise closely with CAMHS and other agencies involved with the child and family.

Mayesbrook Park School provides alternative provision for secondary school students aged 11-16 in Barking and Dagenham. There are three campuses and you would be required to

work across all three. There are up to 100 students across the school, including permanently excluded students, KS3 pupils on short on track programmes and pupils with attendance and mental health concerns. Many of our students have special educational needs (SEND), mainly SEMH (social, emotional and mental health).
