This is an excellent opportunity to work in a school environment and play an important role in the pastoral care of the pupils at Colston’s School. As School Counsellor at the Upper School (aged from 11 to 18), you will provide a counselling service to the pupils of Colston’s School as referred by the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol, easily accessible from the motorway and with approximately 750 students aged from 3 to 18. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty-acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site.
The role is primarily to provide one to one counselling to pupils, maintain appropriate secure records and provide consultation to the DSL. The School Counsellor is expected liaise with pastoral team including Head of House working in consultation with the School child protection policies and networking with external agencies as and when required.
The successful candidate will be a BACP registered counsellor experienced in counselling children of secondary school age, preferably in a school setting.
Counselling sessions are normally made available to pupils on Wednesdays and Thursdays during school term time. Additional sessions may be requested on an ad hoc basis by the DSL. We are seeking an arrangement whereby the successful candidate would be a self-employed contractor who would invoice the School for hours worked.
