Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving, co-educational independent day school on the outskirts of Bristol.  We are looking for a School Counsellor experienced in supporting children of secondary school age (11 to 18) to play an important role in the pastoral care of our pupils. The successful candidate will preferably be experienced in a school setting and will be BACAP accredited. This opportunity is offered from the Autumn Term 2021.

The role is primarily to provide one to one counselling to pupils as referred by the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), maintain appropriate secure records and provide consultation to the DSL. The School Counsellor is expected to liaise with the pastoral team, including Head's of House, work in consultation with the School's child protection policies and network with external agencies as and when required.

Counselling sessions are normally made available to pupils on Wednesdays and Thursdays during school term time. Additional sessions may be requested on an ad hoc basis by the DSL. We are seeking an arrangement whereby the successful candidate would be a self-employed contractor who would invoice the School for hours worked.

Colston's School is easily accessible from the motorway, with approximately 750 students aged from 3 to 18. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty-acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site.
