About the role 

We are seeking a School Counsellor to support students through targeted counselling interventions and to promote the physical, mental health and emotional wellbeing of our pupils.

The successful candidate will play a key part of the school’s pastoral system and show commitment to develop positive attitudes and approaches to lifelong learning for all students, by providing therapeutic interventions and strategies.

Your positive attitude and ability to engage and encourage young people will be essential, as will your ability to work flexibly to meet their individual needs; liaising with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, SLT and SENDCo.

A relevant qualification in Counselling/Psychotherapy is essential, and relevant experience of supporting young people within a secondary school setting is desirable.

About Blue Coat Church of England School & Music College

Blue Coat is a successful and oversubscribed school in the heart of the city of Coventry.  As a Christian school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas.  Consequently we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school. The school was graded 'Outstanding' in its SIAMS inspection and 'Good' by Ofsted in May 2023 with 3 'Outstanding' categories. Our most recent Progress 8 score was +0.42.  The vast majority of our students stay on into the sixth form and continue their studies.

We have a large and successful Post 16 provision with 350 pupils on average studying either A levels or Vocational Level 3 courses.  We have excellent rates of progression to universities, apprenticeships and employment.
