Dean Close School are looking to appoint a School Counsellor to join our school from September 2024. This is a part time role, up to 20 hours per week, working 34 weeks per year. The salary on offer is depending on experience.

We are looking for an experienced Counsellor, to support the pastoral care of the School and to help develop a mental health strategy for the foundation. The Counsellor will be expected to ensure that a clinically effective, high quality of care is available to pupils and other members of the school community.

The role and responsibilities of this position are to include:

  • Triage and treat pupils reporting to the Health Centre with mental health concerns.
  • To provide comprehensive counselling/psychotherapy support to school pupils.
  • To provide occasional training for pastoral and other staff in mental health matters and management strategies
  • To liaise with the House parents and other pastoral staff to help build and deliver a mental health awareness education programme for pupils.
