Job overview
This is an opportunity for a well-qualified and experienced counsellor to play a key role supporting pupils with their wellbeing.
The School Counsellor will provide individual and group evidence-based interventions for girls coping with adverse life experiences and mental health problems. Girls will self-refer or be referred by other professionals or relatives as requiring psychological support.
A well as providing therapeutic interventions, they will liaise with teachers and parents and external agencies (such as General Practitioners and CAMHS) where appropriate to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach to the pupils accessing the service.
The ideal candidate will need a good understanding of how to work effectively with children and adolescents and a warm, empathetic, approachable character.

SCHS’s Gymnastics teams, for instance, were the best in England in the 2012 National Gymnastics Competition. However, pupils attain success across the spectrum of activity, from achieving outstanding results in public-speaking competitions, to winning prizes for the crash-testing of vehicles at Imperial College; from gaining awards for eco-action and sustainability, to trekking across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco or to the base camp of Mount Everest.
