Rossendale is a school catering for the needs of pupils who display social, emotional and mental health difficulties and whose learning disability may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Condition. All Pupils who attend Rossendale have an EHCP.  Rossendale has developed its own Therapy Team.  We employ, or contract, mostly on a part time basis: one Art Psychotherapist, one Neuro developmental family support worker, one school counsellor, one Play Therapist, one SALT therapist and one full time sensory trained Occupational Therapist.  We are looking to extend this team to include a further school counsellor.

With this wide team of therapists, we are able to ensure all pupils receive the therapy they need as they progress through school.  The needs of a young person may change over time, so even if a particular therapy need is not identified on the EHCP we have an internal referral system whereby a member of the school team can request that a young person’s need or suitability for therapy be considered at the fortnightly Triage meeting.  The Deputy Head teacher, oversees the therapeutic provision and we have recently appointed a Therapy Co-ordinator who ensures excellent lines of communication between the therapists, key workers, teachers and parents in relation to the therapy a young person is receiving.

Each pupil has an EHCP that will reflect their identified needs, and how our provision may meet those needs. Given that a large number of our pupils have had difficult early experiences with their previous education settings, it is imperative that they have the opportunity to be nurtured and well-understood in whilst attending Rossendale School and we see the extension of our Therapy Team as one way to ensure this.

The role will be between 2 and 3 days per week.

As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. We ask that you can demonstrate the values needed for a role, transferable skills and life experience and in return we will give you all the training and support you need to progress.

Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.

Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Positive working relationships, good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

Committed – will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated support staff, committed to delivering the very best care.

Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

If you want to progress your career, Aspris will help you get there.

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service/Disclosure Scotland and at least 2 references which cover the last 3 years; for all our services we will request references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.  Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our Schools.
