Elstree school is looking to appoint an experienced, qualified and practising counsellor to offer pupils individual counselling and support.

Our Counsellor will work within the school’s Safeguarding and Prevent policy, Government guidelines and the codes of practice and ethics recommended by the BACP, UKCP or equivalent organisation, to provide a high quality, bespoke counselling service to the pupils of Elstree School.  Individual sessions are offered to pupils of either 50 or 30 minutes duration as appropriate and appointments will be arranged by the school.  Parents pay directly for the session.

You will have experience of working with children and young people and understand the developmental, emotional and educational issues affecting them and possess the patience, tolerance and sensitivity to offer pupils counselling and support.

Set in 150 acres of stunning parkland in rural West Berkshire, Elstree welcomes boys and girls aged 3-13 years.  Originally founded in 1848, it moved to its current location in 1939 and opened its Pre-Prep school in 1993.  It offers boarding, both flexi and weekly, from Year 4 onwards.

Elstree is a close community and we pride ourselves on the very special, warm environment that has evolved since our inception, influenced largely by the family principles of Elstree School. We understand each parent’s desire for their child to feel happy and secure and consider our role in the children’s development and happiness to be a very privileged one. Our committed, energetic and enthusiastic staff look forward to working in partnership with parents throughout their child’s time at Elstree.  All children are valued as individuals and are encouraged to explore and develop their talents to the full.

To find out more about Elstree and to apply, please download an application pack from our website and email it to apply@elstreeschool.org.uk If you require further information, please call Rachel Pither Head of HR on 0118 971 0604.

Applicants are encouraged to apply at their earliest convenience as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but all applications are to be received by Monday 6th June.  Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date and we reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and Disclosure and Barring Service. Elstree is an award-winning independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3 -13 years, just over an hour outside of London in rural Berkshire.

Set in 150 acres of beautiful grounds, Elstree offers a secure and stimulating environment for children to be nurtured and inspired.

Elstree provides a first-class education within a distinctive warm and friendly atmosphere. Proud of its rich history and reputation as a school with high academic, creative and sporting achievements, pupils from Elstree gain places to some of the country’s top Senior Schools, including Eton, Radley, Bradfield, Marlborough, Winchester and Wellington.

Elstree is large enough to accommodate two state of the art Science laboratories, a new Music School, full size all-weather pitch, outdoor pool, woodland for outdoor learning, and a lake for kayaking, yet with a total intake of around 275, Elstree is small enough to be personal and family-focused.

Elstree retains its traditional values whilst fully embracing today’s thinking and aims to help pupils realise their full potential with the encouragement and support of dedicated staff, excellent pastoral care and a full array of extra-curricular programmes, for which Elstree is renowned.
