Job overview

Part time (14 hours per week) term time only plus 1 week. 

Can be offered as either 2 days per week or flexibly across the week to suit the successful applicant.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified counsellor to join our school where strong pastoral care is at the heart of our community.  We welcome applications from counsellors who promote the physical health and emotional wellbeing of children by focussing on their individual needs.  The successful candidate will be able to support pupils through setbacks and problems in life to enable them to achieve fulfilment both at school and in their lives beyond.

Portsmouth High School is an independent school for girls aged 3 to 18 situated in Southsea, Hampshire, just a 5 minute walk from the sea. The school part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, the leading provider of education for girls in the country which has been successfully educating girls since 1872. Portsmouth High School is ambitious for every pupil, preparing them for life beyond the school gates and an education at the school can be life changing.

The senior school opened its doors in 1882 and moved to its current location almost 130 years ago. Other sections have been founded over the years: the junior school opened in 1927, while the nursery was established in 2005.
