School Counsellor

The Royal School is seeking a highly motivated candidate with a Post-graduate Diploma or Masters-level qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy, and an accreditation from a recognised CBT or counselling professional body to join this heavily oversubscribed day and boarding free school.

The candidate will have a demonstrable understanding of the developmental, emotional, social, and educational issues affecting young people from diverse backgrounds for pupils aged 5 to 18+ and staff.

The candidate will be expected to:  

• Provide Primary and Secondary students and staff with individual counselling and support.
• Work with the school nurse and wellbeing team to provide a collective approach to addressing barriers to progress.  
• Provide support and resources throughout the whole school to include but not limited to issues including bereavement and loss, transition, eating disorders and self-harm, depression and anger management, abuse of any kind, and anxiety/fears.  
• Understand confidentiality and reporting procedures.
