Job overview

Location: Eko Pathways will be the main place of work.  The post holder will also have responsibility for the effective management of, and be required to provide support at Pathways School, commencing from September 1st, 2024.

Contract type: Fulltime (Term-time + two weeks), Permanent

Hours: 36 hours per week

Eko Pathways and Pathways are both special schools for pupils aged 5-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Almost all pupils are eligible for Free School Meals and qualify for Pupil Premium. The schools have over 150 pupils and this is expected to grow in response to growing local need.

We are seeking to appoint a permanent School Facilities Manager. We are very excited to be opening this new role in our growing team and are looking for someone who is prepared to come on the journey with us. 

Purpose of the role: 

  • To provide a comprehensive site management service to the school to ensure the environment is safe and secure for pupils.
  • To line manage and supervise the work of assigned Site Operatives and manage site cover across both sites 
  • To ensure that the school premises are safe and well maintained.


We are looking for someone who has:

  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety 
  • Excellent Handyman skills
  • Ability to communicate with adults and children politely and effectively
  • Organised and works in a timely way
  • Able to start and complete actions that support the smooth running of the school
  • Experience in Site Security, Site Operative, Site Support and Maintenance management
  • Experience in Budget and contractor management
  • Experience in undertaking Compliance, Statutory Testing and Maintenance
  • Participate in training and other learning activities as required, and identify own areas of strength and development needs 
  • Participate in annual Performance Review and Development process 
  • Comply with all policies and procedures, including Child Protection and Safeguarding, Health and Safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality in respect of all records and information 
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service - occasional early mornings, evening and weekends (with notice)

  • To work with the Borough’s Primary and Secondary schools in helping pupils manage their social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in order to make progress and reach their potential.
