 We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

 We are seeking a dynamic and proactive individual to appoint as the school finance manager at St Mary’s Catholic School.  Established in September 2021, the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust is formed of eight Academies with St Mary’s being the secondary school in the Trust.

 This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in school finances. Perhaps you are an accounting or finance professional looking for a role in a school, or a school finance professional/school business manager seeking the opportunity to add value to a growing Trust in a role in an outstanding local school?

 Whatever your background, if you have the financial skills and business acumen, a can-do attitude and excellent communication skills, which will equip you to work with, manage and lead our dedicated and experienced school finance team we would love to hear from you.

 Enthusiastic and driven, you will be responsible for assisting with budgets, monitoring, tracking and review and day to day finance procedures. You will also be dealing with ad hoc queries from staff on a daily basis as well as assisting with recruitment, strategic planning, ESFA/LA deadlines, returns and other finance tasks.

 Reporting to the Headteacher you must be able to efficiently assist with the finances and costings of the Academy and ensure the financial regulations for the Academy are adhered to. The role will include order processing, invoice checking, monthly reconciliations, cash flow workings, budget preparation, monitoring and queries and working on the month end and year end finance processes.  You will also be involved with the preparation of the monthly management accounts to assist the Trust CFO and may also be required to work with the Trust team on matters relating to the other academies in the Trust from time to time.

 Working at St. Mary’s is an extraordinary opportunity. We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.

 We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants. St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.

 Apply in writing using the forms available on our website www.stmarys.net: Support Staff Application Form, Consent to Obtain References Form, Rehabilitation of Offenders Form & Recruitment Monitoring Form. Applicants are reminded that they should read the Notes to Applicants before completing an application. Please note only applications on St Mary’s forms will be accepted. Please contact Tom Johnston, Headteacher Designate t.johnston@stmarys.net  or Recruitment@stmarys.net  to submit an application or for more information.

Welcome

St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.

Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.

The aims of the school are:

• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.

In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students.  These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
