Haydon is a large, friendly and creative school in North West London. We have been judged as outstanding by OFSTED. We are looking for a School First Aider to thrive in our supportive environment. 

Main Duties:

  • Encourage students to promptly return to lessons to maximize their learning time, and not to use the first aid facilities for anything but a short time
  • Carry out first aid procedures on sick and injured students, staff and visitors. Keeping senior staff informed as appropriate and summon for an ambulance where necessary.
  • To maintain records of student and staff health concerns and train staff as appropriate (e.g. use of Epi–pen, procedures for asthma attack etc.) 
  • Maintain and propose updates to the school policy on the administration of medicines within school and administer prescription drugs as necessary, ensuring correct permissions from the parent/carer.
  • To ensure policies relating to medical issues are up to date and advise School Leadership Team and Governors accordingly.
  • Responsibility for the Medical Room, monitoring the use of the first aid stock and ordering new stock when necessary.  
  • Keep up to date records of all students’ contact telephone numbers and medical information (i.e. asthma sufferers etc.)
  • Ensure appropriate data / information is input to SIMS / Evolve and that computer data is handled in a strictly private and confidential manner, according to GDPR principles.
  • Compiling medical information of staff and students.
  • Arrange with the school nurse to deliver Epipen etc. training each academic year.
  • Record all first aid interventions daily and provide statistics to management as required, for example, the number and type of first aid incidents in a school year etc.
  • Arranging various permissions slips/notes/letters 
  • Complete the appropriate forms in the event of an accident at school
  • Responsibility for the Medical Room, monitoring the use of the first aid stock and ordering new stock when necessary
  • Responsibility for all medicines, inhalers etc. that are brought into school by students for use during the school day, making sure that they are safely stored in the right conditions.
  • Responsibility for checking student records and issuing first aid boxes to staff on organised trips, events and sports day for students.  Ensure these boxes are up to date with a selection of useful medical sundries.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that Health Care Plans are in place, in consultation with parents and previous school.  Upload these onto SIMS so that all staff can access these.
  • Responsibility for dealing with lost property ensuring that named items get back to their owners.  Sorting out unmarked items for various means for disposal at the end of each term.

The post holder is required to hold an enhanced DBS disclosure. 

The post holder will be expected to work to deadlines as they arise and have the ability to prioritise, including responding appropriately to emergencies.  

The post holder is expected to adhere to all school policies and procedures.

Haydon School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Middlesex serving pupils from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Eastcote, Pinner has approximately 2000 students on record. 

Haydon school was established in 1977 and converted to academy status in 2011 and was identified as outstanding by Ofsted in 2007.
