We are looking for people from the local community who can share their viewpoints, experience, skills and fresh ideas.

We have exciting and rewarding opportunities across Croydon, Surrey, Crawley, Wokingham, Didcot and Banbury for you to join a local governance committee known as a School Strategy Board (SSB) at a GLF School in your community.

GLF Schools is a family of non-selective schools including primary and secondary schools, aspiring to create a group of academies with a reputation for delivering an outstanding education for all children and students. Whilst operating as a part of a family, each school exists in its own right maintaining its unique characteristics and individual identity. Whilst all schools serve to meet the needs of the local community, all are united in their core purpose of providing an outstanding educational experience.

As a SSB member at a GLF School, you will help plan the strategic direction of the school by setting the values, aims and objectives for the school. The SSB  is responsible for promoting high standards ​of achievement and attainment.

As a school SSB member, your work will include:

  • Determining the school improvement strategy which includes recommending the budget and agreeing the staffing structure
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
  • Planning the strategic direction of the school by setting the values, aims and objectives for the school


Requirements

Time commitment:

SSB meetings

Meetings take place every half term ie. about every 6 weeks. Meetings last two hours. Timings vary but most SSBs take place at the beginning of the working day or early evening. There are papers for you to read prior to meetings to ensure that questions can be prepared.

Training

Free training sessions are offered termly which last between 1.5 - 2 hours. Online training is also available for specific courses.
