About us and the role

  • Work with Principals and other senior leaders to ensure that our schools’ curriculum offers are broad, balanced and ambitious while ensuring local flexibility and some autonomy to innovate.
  • Support Principals and other senior leaders to develop curriculum and assessment resources to support effective teaching and learning
  • Oversee all elements of the MAT school improvement plan relating to curriculum, curriculum development and alignment
  • Build an external network that can help support all AST schools with improving their curriculum offer.
  • In collaboration with the SI Lead for Teacher Development ensure that the Avanti Institute provides high quality CPD that supports curriculum development and assessment practice
  • Help to position AST as a beacon of excellence and innovation for curriculum development, maintaining leading edge knowledge of national and international research and developments in primary and secondary education.

What are we looking for?

  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Senior leadership experience at school or MAT level
  • Proven experience of curriculum design and innovation, driving change and school improvement
  • Successful experience of ensuring excellent teaching and learning, through processes of monitoring and support
  • Experience of using pupil attainment data to inform curriculum offers and raise standards for all pupils
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
