Castlebar School is looking to appoint a reliable, calm and approachable School Transport Marshall to support the safe arrival and departure of pupils travelling to and from school using Local Authority transport.
This is an important, practical role at the beginning and end of each school day. You will help manage the movement of transport vehicles on the school site, support Passenger Assistants and drivers, and ensure pupils are transferred safely between vehicles and school staff.
Our pupils have a range of complex special educational needs and disabilities, so we are looking for someone who is patient, observant and confident communicating with pupils, families, transport staff and school colleagues. You will need to remain calm in a busy environment, follow established procedures and risk assessments, and act promptly if you identify a safeguarding, welfare or health and safety concern.
We are looking for someone who:
is reliable, punctual and calm, with a strong commitment to pupil safety
can communicate confidently and respectfully with pupils, families, school staff and transport teams
is able to follow procedures and risk assessments and respond appropriately to concerns or incidents
has an understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the needs of pupils with complex SEND
works well as part of a team and can remain organised in a busy environment
Previous experience in a school, SEND, care or transport environment would be helpful but is not essential.
