Job overview

The Post

Ashfold School are seeking to appoint a School Matron to start in September 2022, fulfilling a key position in assisting the Headmaster to manage the safety and well-being of pupils whilst in attendance at School.

We are looking to appoint a Matron to work with our Assistant Matron to meet the general medical needs of our pupils. Alongside providing a first aid response, the role will also involve supporting health plans set up to facilitate attendance at school for those pupils with specific medical needs. Friendly, compassionate and discrete, they will be a dynamic and pivotal member of the team that care for the wider pastoral needs of our children.

The successful candidate will already possess a qualification in Childcare or First Aid or will have demonstrable experience of working in this field. They will be willing to undertake the relevant regular first aid training to maintain standards of care and help deliver an outstanding first aid service. From treating minor bumps and bruises to being present on the sidelines at sports matches, their first response skills will be relied upon to ensure our children receive the best care available.

The successful candidate will naturally possess excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills and will be able to foster positive relationships with the children, staff and the wider School community.

The School

Ashfold is a leading independent prep school for approximately 280 boys and girls aged 3–13 years. The School is set in a beautiful Jacobean mansion with its own 30-acre estate on the edge of the village of Dorton in the Buckinghamshire countryside, close to Thame, Oxford, Bicester and Aylesbury.

Alongside an excellent all-round education, we pride ourselves in offering children a wealth of opportunities to participate in sports, the arts, drama and music, as well as a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. The school week runs from Monday to Friday, and we offer optional boarding up to four nights a week, as well as a rich and varied extra-curricular programme.
