Lavender Field School is a rapidly growing special school located in Crewe offering the highest quality of education for up to 100 children (5-18) with a range of additional needs.

We are looking to recruit a School Nurse, 37.5 hours per week, term time only, who will join us on this exciting journey, enabling the school to grow and evolve. The School require a RN or RGN ( Child Branch) or a RSCN or RN ( Learning Disabilities).

Our aim is to provide innovative and enjoyable education, therapy and early intervention for pupils, sometimes (and only where appropriate) enabling them to successfully return to mainstream schooling, but always helping them to become happy, positive and valuable members of society.

 

Lavender Field School enables pupils to access a curriculum that offers a personalised education rooted in social and emotional development, rich in speech and language, enabling the very best achievement both personally and academically.

 Key aspects of this role include:

  • As a School Nurse you will hold a caseload of school-age children (5-18), supporting them with their health and wellbeing. You will work and provide a high standard of care for our pupils across the group of schools. 

 

  • This will also involve working with partner agencies to meet the health and wellbeing needs of the school aged population.

 

  • Provide healthcare to pupils; both physical and mental health support, including health checks for all pupils

 

  • Maintaining good order and discipline among pupils, safeguarding their health and safety at all times when they are the responsibility of the school

 

  • Sharing responsibility for excellent pastoral care to which the school gives high priority

 

  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals, and establish constructive relationships and communicate with other organisations and individuals as required

 

  • To promote effective teaching and learning for pupils who have complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and multiple barriers to learning

 

We are looking for a Nurse who has

  •  Empathy and patience for children who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • A minimum 2 years post registration experience, preferably working with children in acute clinical or special needs setting
  • A current knowledge of health needs of school-aged population with special needs
  • Awareness of current developments in school nursing services, primary care and health promotion.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • Ability to support parents
  • Ability to take responsibility
  • Ability to communicate across all disciplines and agencies
  • Ability to reflect on clinical practice
  • Ability to embrace change positively. Good standard of written English
  • Knowledge of assessment of health needs of the school aged population
  • Knowledge of national and local policies which influence provision of school nursing services for the school aged population with special needs
  • Awareness of current developments in public health services.
