School Nurse for September 2024

40–42 weeks a year; part-time; £33,000 pa

We are seeking to appoint a School Nurse to cover all aspects of health, first aid and medical provision in our School on a part-time basis. A job description and person specification are available, and we’d love to hear from you if you are a kind, hard-working team player with a commitment to being our ambassador for medical provision and care.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 8 May 2024. Interviews for shortlisted candidates are likely to take place in the week commencing 13 May 2024 at the School, although this may be subject to change. Early applications are encouraged: the School reserves the right to interview and appoint at any time.

The School was founded in the 12th century to educate the Choristers of Exeter Cathedral, and we now welcome some 250 girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 13. In 2019 the School was awarded the best possible grading of ‘Excellent’ by the Independent School’s Inspectorate; in 2020 it received acclaim from Microsoft as an Industry Leader for remote learning; in 2021 the School was shortlisted as the Times Educational Supplement’s Prep School of the Year; and in 2022 we featured in the Best Boarding Schools Guide (Good Schools Guide). This is, then, a seriously exciting time to be joining our close-knit and hard- working community where people matter.

Further information about the appointment process and requirements may be obtained from Mrs Rosie Hankin, Support Services Office Administrator: r.hankin@exetercs.org. Information about the School can be found at www.exetercathedralschool.co.uk.

Exeter Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Exeter Cathedral School is a flourishing independent day and boarding Prep School for girls and boys aged 3-13.

Founded in the 12th century as a choir school, Exeter Cathedral School now educates approximately 280 pupils. 36 of these are the boy and girl Choristers of Exeter Cathedral, who continue the centuries-old routine of leading the daily sung worship in the Cathedral.

Nowadays, we offer a fully-rounded Prep School education to pupils from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of talents and interests, whether they be sporting, academic, artistic or musical.

We have an enviable location (right in the heart of the city and yet nestled safely in the lee of the Cathedral), a maximum class size of 18 (allowing us to get know each and every pupil as an individual), a proven track record of securing places and scholarships to a range of leading senior schools, and a firm commitment to being a forward-thinking Prep School with traditional values.

Above all, we are a school where people matter, and where staff and families work in partnership to help children acquire the right habits for life.
