Job overview

Your normal place of work will be Jonn Lyon Prep School, conveniently located within a short walking distance to Harrow’s main train and bus stations.

As School Nurse, you will deliver high-quality care to pupils who are unwell or injured, manage medical emergencies, and promote health awareness across the School. Working closely with the wider Pastoral and Safeguarding teams, you will be instrumental in embedding a culture of wellbeing within the School. You will also take part in our Saturday sports fixture rota during the Autumn and Spring Terms, supporting pupils’ physical pursuits with professional medical cover.

You will join a warm, dynamic and well-equipped Medical Centre that serves as a hub of healthcare for pupils. This role also offers the opportunity to engage in wider educational initiatives, including contributing to the delivery of Personal Development and Healthy Lifestyle programmes, and providing training and guidance to staff and parents.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with experience in A&E, Minor Injury Assessment or Primary Care. Paediatric experience is essential, as is a genuine interest in mental health support. Your empathy, discretion and ability to build trusting relationships with young people, staff and parents will be key to your success.

You will also be confident working collaboratively with Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), external agencies, and teaching staff to secure the best possible outcomes for our pupils. A strong understanding of safeguarding, medical record-keeping, and health compliance within a school or similar environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Administering immediate care for illness or injury.
  • Supporting ongoing medical and mental health issues.
  • Promoting health education and wellbeing throughout the school.
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate medical records.
  • Coordinating immunisations and supporting public health initiatives.
  • Contributing to staff training and first aid instruction.
  • Upholding rigorous safeguarding and regulatory standards.
