Description To provide literacy and numeracy assistance to students with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. To facilitate opportunities for students to engage in cultural activities across the school. This temporary appointment is funded under an Aboriginal Education program.
Position Requirements The applicant must:
• have a competent level of literacy and numeracy
• have an interest in the process of learning to read and understand literacy
• have a cooperative nature and a kind manner and be capable of supporting children in their learning
• be willing to support the ethos of the Catholic School
• be interested in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students including students with additional needs.
• be capable of working under the supervision of the Learning Support Coordinator
• have an understanding of the local Aboriginal community and networks
• have experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
• demonstrate recent and relevant experience in initiating, developing, implementing and monitoring Personal Learning Pathways for Indigenous students in a school setting
• be willing to assist staff in implementing Aboriginal and Torres-Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum.
Essential Criteria Demonstrate experience in using and implementing/facilitating specific reading comprehension programs. Working With Children number must be recorded on your application
