Sophia College is a Catholic secondary school located in the Lockyer Valley, approximately 80 kms west of Brisbane. The College opened in January 2021 with 96 Year 7 students and will increase by one year level each year until it reaches Year 12. Sophia College is seeking a School Officer - Student Support to work within the Learning Enhancement Team. A dynamic team which includes Support Teacher - Inclusive Education, Guidance Counsellor and Classroom School Officers - working together to meet the diverse learning needs of students across all year levels.

You will be required to work in a classroom environment with a high level of confidentiality and a willingness to work with and engage with students from Year 7 onwards. In this role, you will be able to demonstrate commitment to excellence in the provision of professional services; outstanding communication skills; a positive disposition and a genuine desire to work in partnership with College staff, students and families.

This role provides specific support to:
Students who have identified physical disabilities and/or learning difficulties.

You will also provide support to students with identified social/emotional disabilities/difficulties when accessing learning and technology. Facilitate tasks associated with the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on Students with Disability, within well-established routines.

Ideally you will have previous experience as a Classroom School Officer and/or hold at minimum a Cert III in Educational Support; proven communication and interpersonal skills; an understanding of the work of a classroom and a willingness to work as part of a team. You will also demonstrate an ability and initiative to apply your skills in supporting students to achieve successful learning outcomes.

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;

  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Position Tenure:  Fixed Term

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term): 

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 5 days/week (30 hours/week) - Monday to Friday

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 3 - $29.77 per hour

Employment Conditions:  Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
