McAuley College is seeking an appropriately qualified and experienced professional for the role of School Officer to work as part of our Student Support and Enrichment Program (School Officer Level 3). The position will initially be five days a week, working 6 hours per day for Semester Two, 2018. There is some capacity for ongoing work in this field in 2019, but the applicant should be aware that the number of hours may vary. The School Officer will be required to undertake a range of activities and duties to support students in the classroom (currently only Years 7 and 8), with a passion and experience working with students with a disability, namely autism (ASD). The successful applicant should be able to display proven communication and interpersonal skills, strong literacy and numeracy skills, be able to work effectively in a team, and have proven ability to support students with a wide range of needs. It would be advantageous for the successful applicant to hold a Certificate 3 in Educational Support. The successful applicant will be required to work across the typical duties and skills as outlined in the attached Position Description and Duty Statement. Prior to commencing the successful applicant will require a Working with Young People Blue Card and complete a number of mandatory on-line training packages. First Aid qualifications are desirable. McAuley College opened in 2017 and this year enrolled approximately 100 students across Year 7 and Year 8. The College is master planned to grow to 800 students. The person in this role will provide assistance with the day to day learning and teaching program of the College through direct support of students under the guidance and direction of the classroom teacher and Learning Support Inclusive Education Teacher.
