Description | All Saints College St Peter's Campus, Maitland is seeking two temporary part time (25 hours per week) Learning Support Assistant to join the team for 2022. | |
Position Requirements | • must have a competent level of literacy and numeracy • must have an interest in the process of learning to read and understanding numeracy • must have a cooperative nature and a kind manner and be capable of supporting children in their learning • must be willing to support the ethos of the Catholic School • must be capable of working under supervision of the Learning Support Teacher and Classroom Teacher • must be willing to undertake training to support a medical assistant |

Essential Criteria | • Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number • Proof of Covid vaccination status |

Desirable Criteria | • Medical training/background would be an advantage • experience in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder • experience working with children with oppositional behaviours • experience in implementing behaviour plans • understanding and implements non-violent crisis intervention strategies • knowledge and understanding of Literacy intervention programs |

St Peter’s Maitland is a mixed, non-selective, Catholic secondary school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school is situated in Maitland, and is part of the multi-campus main school – All Saints College, along with St Mary’s Campus Maintalnd, serving students from the age of 16-18, and St Joseph’s Lochinvar, serving pupils from the age of 11-16.
St Peter’s Maitland was founded as an all-boy school in 1838, and has been at its present site since 1874. The school works closely with the Marist Brothers and the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle.

The school has facilities including a library, science laboratories, modern classrooms, a computer suite and a sports hall.
Curriculum
St Peter’s Maitland offers a varied learning curriculum adhering with the national curriculum while at the same time giving space for individuals to specialise in areas of interest in Year 9 onwards, that will help benefit them for their future. Along with optional modules, which include Indonesian, visual design and dance, pupils also have the opportunity to undertake Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, which require them to complete a work placement. The school also places a great emphasis on IT training, and has a bring your own device policy, allowing all pupils to learn in class with a computer.
