Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated School Officer to assist in the Learning Support area of our school.

In this role, you will work collaboratively in a team to provide in-class and small group support to assist students with special needs, to assist students to access the curriculum and to assist students with social skills.

The successful applicant should have experience in:

- supporting students with a range of diverse needs
- possess a high level of initiative, interpersonal and communication skills
- a high level of literacy and numeracy and well developed computer skills
- a positive attitude and patience while working with primary school aged students

Previous experience working with students with special needs in a primary context would be advantageous.


Our Lady of Lourdes School was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in the southside suburb of Sunnybank in 1952. Our co-educational primary school has an approximate population of 572 students. The campus is a modern educational facility with all learning areas fully air conditioned. To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • currently hold or be eligible to hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.


Estimated Start Date:
  Commencing Term 3 2020

Position Tenure:   Fixed Term

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):   Terms 3 & 4 2020

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   Monday - Friday 15 - 20 hrs/week

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   School Officer - Level 2 - $26.03 per hour

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
