We are seeking a School Officer - Specialised Care & Education Support to work within the Learning Support Team. A dynamic team which includes a Support Teacher Inclusive Education, Guidance Counsellor, Classroom Teachers and School Officers working together to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

You will be required to work in a classroom environment with a high level of confidentiality and a willingness to work with and engage with primary-aged students.

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting and supporting a student with a complex disability. The role of the School Officer Specialised Care & Education Support is to provide both educational and personal care support.

This role provides specific support for a student in relation to their physical needs. This includes providing adequate health support according to a personalised support plan as advised by the specialist support team. This role holder will also provide support for a student to access learning both in class and alternative education situations and facilitate tasks associated with the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).

Ideally, you will have previous experience as a classroom school officer with a student with complex disability and/or care/disability worker experience; proven communication and interpersonal skills; and understanding of the work of the classroom and a willingness to work as part of a team. You’ll also demonstrate an ability and initiative to apply skills in supporting students to achieve successful learning outcomes.

A First Aid Certificate and a minimum of a Certificate 3 in Education Support is required or a willingness to obtain these.

  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):  2022 school year

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 30 hours per week: Monday to Friday - 6 hours per day Specialised Care Allowance $36.40 per fortnight

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 3 Step 2 - $30.27 per hour

Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement

As from 23 January 2022 all BCE Schools will be an environment where all employees are fully COVID vaccinated as directed by the Queensland Chief Health Officer.

This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
