Description To provide support to students with personal care needs, with the aim of building to independence.
Position Requirements These duties would include:


• Toileting - changing and assisting students in toileting, including use of specialist equipment and manual transfer procedures. This would involve collecting the student from the classroom, escorting them to the change facility, verbal and visual promoting for students who have some level of independence or full change for dependent students. This would extend to personal hygiene and independence of hand washing and other associated needs.


• Medication - administering if medication to students throughout the day


• Assisting with eating plans - build capacity in students for independent feeding or assisting, in accordance with the individual plan, feeding at break times


• willing to support the mission of the Catholic School


• proven experience in use of a range of AAC devices


• able to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of a team


• must have proven capacity of working with children with high support needs in their personal care


• must have experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours and be able to follow plans and procedures put in place for these students
Essential Criteria • a high level of communication skills with students with additional needs

• be able to liaise with teachers and other members of the school community

• have excellent organisational and time management skills

• be able to contribute as a member of a team and assist in the planning, preparation and implementation of education programs and resources to enhance student support

• be able to work unsupervised

• must have experience working with children with additional needs

• experience in implementing behaviour plans

• understands and implements strategies to manage escalating behaviours

• Your current Working With Children number must be recorded on your application
