Bohunt Wokingham School is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Premises Manager to join our team in our stunning environment. The Premises Manager is responsible to the Head of School for the general safety, maintenance and upkeep of the schools premises and grounds, and for providing a safe, secure and clean environment for all our students, staff and visitors.
Bohunt School Wokingham opened its doors to Year 7 pupils in 2016. Having grown substantially since then, we are now heavily oversubscribed, with a school roll of 1200 students aged 11-16. With the exciting announcement of our expansion to include a sixth form and additional spaces in all year groups, we will soon see more students through to 18.
Our ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’ underpins our vision to give all students an outstanding education and develop skills in the classroom and beyond. These core values help our students flourish throughout their school career, and on into later life. Reflective of the success achieved in its first three years, Ofsted recognised that the “overall educational experience for many pupils at the school is ‘life-changing’.”
Our new site has been designed and built with education at the forefront and includes specialist teaching spaces and a whole school one to one iPad provision, as well a wide range of sports and extra-curricular provision. We are leaders in outdoor education with an outdoor classroom, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and Big Expeditions to wilderness locations, alongside a variety of other trips at home and abroad.
We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with nine schools including two Sixth Forms and a boarding facility. We may be separated geographically, however, all BET schools are student centred, sharing an uncompromising belief in high achievement and unconditional positive expectations, a real sense of community and a dynamic, innovative approach to education.
Generic Role Purpose
To have overall responsibility for leading and developing the site team to ensure high standards of operational effectiveness and to help deliver the aims and ethos of the school.
Oversight of Health and Safety, with responsibility for ensuring the security of the site and buildings both in term time and school holidays and ensure the maintenance of the site and the servicing of equipment such as heating, lighting, air-conditioning and alarm systems on a regular basis.
Specific Responsibilities Include
Working with key staff to deliver high standards of Health and Safety, to ensure a safe working and learning environment in accordance with relevant legislation.
Line management of the Site team. Ensuring continual coverage within specific times during both term time and school holidays. Carrying out Performance Management and ensuring that staff receive appropriate and adequate training. Ensuring effective and efficient deployment of staff.
Responsibility for ensuring the security of the site and buildings both in term time and school holidays.
Ensuring the maintenance of the site, including:
- Organising structural repairs and decoration
- Effective contract delivery for service level agreements
- Keeping fixtures, fittings and furniture in a good state of repair
- Maintaining a rolling programme of decoration and refurbishment
- Controlling litter, and disposal of rubbish and redundant equipment
- Project management of site improvement works
- Managing an efficient and effective reporting, monitoring and repair system
- Carrying out and record regular health and safety checks
- Provide safe access to the school in cold weather conditions
- Use of IT to log and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and to log remedial actions required.
