Inspired learning. Empowering young women of integrity. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced School Psychologist to join our team on a permanent part time basis. Our Strategic Vision focuses on the whole girl, and the wellbeing, vitality and empowerment of each student is essential to the fulfilment of the Vision.
The School Psychologist will contribute to providing effective support for the wellbeing of our students and contribute to organisational health in the School. Applicants must have a passion for a whole-school approach to student wellbeing. The Psychologist would support the Director of Counselling by helping implement wellbeing and preventative mental health programs and providing evidence based interventions to students. The Psychologist will need to keep up with the fast pace of the school environment and keep in mind the short-term nature of therapeutic interventions with students.
The position is working 4 days a week and commences in Term 1 2021.
The key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
Assisting children and young adults to succeed academically, socially, behaviourally and emotionally;
Collaborating with teachers, parents and other professionals to assist in creating safe, healthy and supportive learning environments;
Assisting the Director of Counselling to implement whole school programs to enhance student wellbeing
Providing individual and group counselling, coaching and mentoring for those struggling with social, emotional and behavioural problems;
Providing specialist input to support the development, implementation and evaluation of prevention programs that focus on evidence based interventions;
Supporting crises management by providing advice and support along with direct services;
Collaborating with students, staff and parents to enhance the wellbeing of each student.
Work collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers and other agencies to enhance learning and wellbeing outcomes for students.
Support the pastoral team build and sustain a strong visible culture of care and wellbeing.
We are looking for someone who:
Has a minimum 2 years counselling experience preferably in an education environment;
Has experience in providing quality evidence-based services for children, adolescents, and their parents.
Possesses experience dealing with sensitive, complex staff and student issues;
Holds psychology qualifications with current registration as a psychologist with AHPRA;
Has knowledge of best practice and the evidence base in whole school wellbeing
Is discreet and confidential;
Is energetic and loyal;
Can work well in a team;
Has a passion for wellbeing;
Has excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills;
Will actively support the ethos of this Anglican Independent School;
Has a commitment to ongoing professional learning
Endorsement in clinical or educational psychology is desirable;

About Kambala
Kambala is an all-girls, non-selective, Anglican, independent, all-through day and boarding school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 4-18. The all-through school is situated in Rose Bay, and overlooks the Sydney Harbour.
Kambala was founded in 1997. The current principal has been there since 2014. It is divided into three sites: the school’s early learning centre, a primary school and a secondary school. The school places a huge importance on IT skills, seeing all students equipped with their own iPad from primary school. Kambala boasts a wide range of modern learning facilities across its three campuses, including multi-purpose halls, multiple play areas, a 25-metre swimming pool, a large, well-stocked library, extensive outdoor grounds, science laboratories, photography lighting rooms and sports courts.
Curriculum
The all-through school offers a broad and varied curriculum, including an extensive range of languages - French, Japanese, Latin or Mandarin. In secondary school, pupils work to study towards the International Baccalaureate (IB). Extracurricular activities are available for students to get involved in, ranging from sports to a school choir. There is also private tutoring for students requiring additional help.
