School Receptionist, Part Time Maternity Cover

JOB TITLE: School Receptionist – Maternity Cover, Part Time 

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Headmaster and Bursar

PURPOSE OF JOB:  To assist in providing the first point of call for parents, staff, pupils and visitors and to assist in the smooth running of the school. 

TERM OF CONTRACT:  Maternity Cover, part time two days a week. 

HOURS:  0800 - 1800

SALARY: Dependent on qualification of successful applicant

START DATE:  28th August 2018

CLOSING DATE: Friday 29th June

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: 

· To answer the telephone quickly and politely

· To answer the door and maintain security 

· To contribute to the welcome of visitors 

· To always present a friendly approachable face to staff, pupils and parents 

· To respond to prospective new parents requests for information, and pass information to the Registrar

· To keep staff and parents up to date with informative emails 

· To help administer and keep up to date the school’s computer records

· To take temporary boarding bookings, liaising with the Boarding House and catering provider

· To inform parents of any issues that may arise during the day to do with their child

· To look after unwell/injured pupils until Housemother/First Aider takes over

· To record and follow up pupil absence

· To take post to post box as required, to receive and sort post and parcels delivered

· To publish and distribute the weekly programme containing events and activities

· To ensure compliance with school policy on all matters

· To be a helping hand in a crisis

· To work as part of a team and generally facilitate good communication in school between departments

· To help prepare information for school bills – snack teas, extras in the Boarding House

· To assist with the co-ordination of arrangements for Open Mornings, School Forums and any other school events

The post holder will have a holiday entitlement which is to be taken during the school holidays.
