Be a part of something new! Opened on 21st February 2022, The Aurora Poppyfield School is an innovative new provider for 11-16 year old pupils with Special Educational Needs. We have taken a mixed academic approach to create an environment where young people can achieve their own goals and thrive - be that with GCSEs or a vocational route.

We’re currently looking for a School Receptionist to join our expanding team, to be a part of this exciting new experience right from the start.

The Role:

Your role will be to ensure the efficient and smooth operation within the reception and guest areas, ensuring all visitors/guests are greeted in a professional, friendly and courteous manner

Also supporting the efficient and effective running of school administration which may include Finance, General and Pupil Administration, HR, Facilities and Site Maintenance, ICT, Health and Safety, Housekeeping and Catering.

Key duties:

  • To act as the first point of contract for the school
  • Ensure the safety and security of reception ensuring entry to premises are controlled
  • Ensure that all guests/visitors have the appropriate identification to access site.
  • Ensure that Reception and Staff Room is maintained and welcoming.
  • Working both independently and effectively as part of the Administrative Team to provide an excellent reception and administrative support service.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships in contributing to the delivery of an efficient support service
  • Organising and facilitating events
  • Support the induction of new staff to the school
  • To provide support to the recruitment and onboarding processes of staff.
  • To provide support for HR to include sickness absence reporting and keeping training records up to date
  • Prepare documentation and materials ensuring a high level of accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy (at least 5 GCSEs to include English and Maths Grade 4 or above or equivalent is essential.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a school environment and/or a busy reception/administration office
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email and web and general office systems
  • Must have excellent computer skills – Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, Powerpoint and ability to use range of databases once trained
  • Accurate typing, touch typing desirable.

  • Adaptable, flexible approach to work including collaborative support to other colleagues to meet demands of the business
  • Excellent organisation skills: ability to work in a busy and demanding environment
  • Ability to work independently and effectively without supervision for longer periods of time and prioritise workload

  • Ability to be discreet and protect confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written at all levels
  • Excellent customer focused manner
  • Organised, good time management.
  • Ability to manage own time to deal with multiple tasks.
  • High levels of interpersonal ability with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own car desirable
