Our School
Wetherby Senior School is a thriving independent day school for boys aged 11-18 situated in the heart of London. Since opening in 2015 the School has grown and in September 2018 we welcomed our first cohort of Sixth Form pupils following very successful GCSE results. The School combines a rigorous academic education with an emphasis on developing the whole boy by giving him a broad educational experience and strong pastoral care.
We are an academically selective school and the main points of entry are 11+, 13+ and 16+. The School is divided into the Lower School (Years 7 to 8), Middle School (Years 9 to 11) and the Sixth Form with Heads of Section taking responsibility for each age group.
Wetherby Senior is a welcoming and dynamic place to work with a strong sense of community. The school invests in its staff with a programme of continual personal development. We seek to employ highly professional teachers with the ability and commitment to enhance the life of this School and to work effectively and collaboratively with all members of the School community to further develop the School. Our emphasis on educating the whole boy means that all members of staff, in due course, will be expected to contribute to the pastoral care of a group of students as a Form Tutor as well as contributing to the School’s co-curricular activities.
Headmaster
Robert Garvey
Our Vision
Our vision at Wetherby Senior is to provide an outstanding, progressive all-round education, supporting our pupils to achieve academically and to develop as people, fully preparing them to meet the challenges of being a young man in the twenty-first century.
Academic excellence is central to Wetherby Senior, complemented by our aim to nurture a genuine enjoyment of learning and intellectual curiosity. Our curriculum is underpinned by a learning philosophy centred on the belief that a person’s talents, ability and performance can be improved. There are currently 450 boys and individual attention is fostered through small class sizes and dedicated teaching staff.
Location
The School occupies two campuses – One on Marylebone Lane and the second on Manchester Street. Our location in the heart of London enables us to access everything the city has to offer in terms of the arts, culture, business, science and technology. We also enjoy the use of professional sports grounds at Ealing Trailfinders.
ISI report
“The school is a vibrant, busy and happy community where senior leaders and governors share a strong vision based upon the core values of character, community and respect. They consistently place the child at the centre of their planning and there is a demonstrable sense of shared purpose among staff and pupils.”
