Abercorn School is a thriving, coeducational preparatory school with three buildings in central London. It requires a School Registrar to work alongside the school’s Administrator, Admissions Secretary, and Senior Leadership Team. The successful applicant will be primarily based in the building on Marylebone Road, London, NW1 but may have duties that require attendance at the other premises in W1 and NW8. It is a full time permanent position and the hours will be 9 am until 5:30 pm. Remuneration will be between £27,000 and £40,000 per year depending on qualifications and experience. There is six weeks annual leave, plus Public Holidays.

Main Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

Provide administrative assistance to the academic team: Record electronically registrations received, Enter and maintain details of parents and pupils onto ISAMS and work with administration and admissions to control administrative aspects of student admission, registration and graduation, manage CAS applications for prospective and current pupils in accordance with current regulation, arrange meetings and tours for the Headmaster and Deputy Heads and manage all aspects of visitors to the school, including compliance with safeguarding procedures and Independent Schools Inspectorate requirements.

Provide secretarial duties as relates to institutions outside of the school: Regular liaison with Heads, Registrars of other schools and local authorities as required.

Have duties in recruitment, public relations and marketing: Production and distribution of weekly newsletter and other recruitment, public relations and marketing activities for the school including maintaining school website and social media presence, coordinate and report on recruitment of staff, be in charge of Single Central Register, ensuring full compliance.

Coordinate the preparation and publication of official documents: Semi-annual pupil reports, pupil references, examination preparation packs and schedules, statutory documents.

Assist with updating and dissemination of compliance changes: In conjunction with the Compliance Officer manage, distribute and interpret regulatory information.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have to demonstrate a good knowledge of the UK Independent School’s system and ideally hold a relevant qualification such as marketing, business management or administration. It is essential that the candidate has good working knowledge of ISAMS and office software packages including Publisher, plus ability in wordpress.org. Proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential, as well as a polite and efficient telephone manner. Experience of working in the education sector for at least a year is essential.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be the very first contact that prospective parents and other visitors have with the school. In addition to the software skills and experience with CAS above required, it will be vital that the candidate demonstrates a can-do and cheerful attitude. The post-holder will be polite and an excellent communicator with impeccable written and spoken English. The candidate should be proactive and able to manage priorities whilst working in a busy environment.
