This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in developing rugby across schools in North Hampshire whilst contributing to the wider strategic development of schools rugby across the county. Working as part of England Rugby's national School Rugby Manager network, you will help create more opportunities for young people to experience rugby, support teachers and schools, strengthen links with local clubs and build sustainable participation for the future.

This is a part-time role (18.5 hours per week / 2.5 days) with flexible working arrangements, recognising that the successful candidate will be working across schools, community settings and occasional evening or weekend events.

About the Role

The School Rugby Manager will work across a network of primary and secondary schools, supporting the introduction, development and sustainability of rugby within education.

Working closely with Heads of PE, Senior Leadership Teams, England Rugby staff, local clubs and volunteers, you will coordinate and facilitate rugby activity, develop teachers and young leaders, increase participation and create stronger pathways between schools and community rugby.

In addition, through the partnership with Hampshire RFU, the role will support the strategic development of schools rugby across Hampshire. This includes coordinating county-wide competitions and festivals, strengthening communication with member schools, developing partnerships with key stakeholders and helping shape a sustainable future for schools rugby across the county.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about developing young people through sport.

  • Has the ability to build positive relationships with schools, clubs and partner organisations.

  • Can confidently plan, organise and deliver high-quality sporting opportunities.

  • Is an effective communicator, able to engage a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Works independently, managing their own workload while contributing positively to wider team objectives.

  • Enjoys collaborating with others to develop innovative and sustainable programmes.

Experience within education, sports development, coaching or community sport would be advantageous, together with a good understanding of the role schools and clubs play in developing lifelong participation in sport.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people's participation in sport.

  • A unique role combining local delivery with county-wide strategic development.

  • Membership of England Rugby's national School Rugby Manager network.

  • Professional support and development through Queen Mary's College, England Rugby and Hampshire RFU.

  • Flexible working arrangements that support a healthy work-life balance.

  • The opportunity to work alongside passionate colleagues across education and community rugby.

Join Us

This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people while helping shape the future of rugby across North Hampshire and Hampshire.

Whether introducing rugby to a school for the first time, supporting teachers to develop confidence, coordinating county festivals or strengthening partnerships between schools and clubs, you will play an important role in creating positive experiences and sustainable opportunities for the next generation of players, volunteers and supporters.

If you are passionate about education, community sport and creating opportunities for young people, we look forward to receiving your application.
