Smart Teachers is recruiting for an experienced Part-time School   Secretary / Administrator to join an outstanding, independent school  in Camden. The school offers education to boys aged 4 – 13 years, and received  excellent outcomes in their 2016 inspection by the Independent Schools  Inspectorate. The successful School Secretary / Administrator will join the  school from October 2018 on a part-time, long-term basis for a minimum of 1  term initially with the potential to be extended. The School Secretary /  Administrator hourly rate will be based on the level of experience of the  successful candidate starting from £12 per hour. 

About the Role

  • Part-time School Secretary / Administrator role – Thursdays only or Thursdays and Fridays
  • Sharing the below duties with the other school secretary
  • Record and manage absences and registers using iSAMS (experience with this program not essential)
  • Answer phones and emails and handle queries
  • Distribute incoming post and mail outgoing post
  • Deal with injuries / first aid
  • Occasionally sending emails on behalf of the Headteacher
  • Recording notes of meetings between parents and head
  • Assisting visitors and deliveries
  • Opportunity to manage some social media updates if desired
  • 35 days holiday per year plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
  • Salary dependent on experience ranging between £22,000 - £40,000 (pro-rata)

In order to be considered for this role, the School Secretary / Administrator will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Previous experience of secretarial duties within a school environment (ESSENTIAL)
  • GCSE Grades A – C (or equivalent) including English and Maths
  • ICT literate
  • Enjoy working with children
  • A high degree of personal and interpersonal skills showing initiative, flexibility,      confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion
  • Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)
