Job overview

We are seeking a professional, forward thinking School Secretary to join our administration team. The position requires you to work collaboratively as part of the team in a busy school office environment, serving the needs of students and families in our community. The successful applicant must be able to multi-task a busy office in a friendly and professional manner, and provide administration support to the school.

Typical duties include:

• Handling enquiries and attending school reception
• Student, parent and staff liaison
• Correspondence
• Student absentee recording
• Student enrolments
• Sick bay and first aid
• Various other administration tasks as required

Applicants must possess good clerical and typing skills, exceptional phone manner, strong organisational skills, great attention to detail with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and preferably experience with the eMinerva system.

A high level of communication and interpersonal skills are required. The successful applicant should hold or be prepared to obtain a First Aid Certificate.

Our Lady of Lourdes School was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in the southside suburb of Sunnybank in 1952. Our co-educational primary school has an approximate population of 580 students. The campus is a modern educational facility with all learning areas fully air conditioned. To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):  

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   5 days/wk (38 hrs/wk) Mon to Fri

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   School Officer Level 5 - $33.53 per hour

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
