Job overview

Are you developing your career as a leader in education and want to build on your experience in schools to provide support across the system?

We could have the perfect job for you!

The SDSA leads and supports partnerships and projects that improve outcomes for children and young people, especially within schools. We are based in Leicester but our work includes local, regional and national contracts. We think we are unique within the sector, operating as a not-for-profit support organisation, driven by a spirit of enterprising public-service. We are now well established with over 15 years of successful operation in a rapidly changing environment.

This vacancy arises because we realise that there is even more that we could and should be doing to support schools. We want you to join us to help shape this bright future. You will work closely with the Chief Executive, Assistant Director, Business Development Manager and a fantastic team of Managers across these work-streams and a wide range of other projects.

The role of School Strategy Manager is a new one to reflect the increasing role we are playing to support schools in new ways. We have recently refreshed and restructured the organisation to be better placed to serve schools, and this new post is a key part of this. As a new position in the SDSA there is no precedent and, as a unique organisation there is no equivalent role elsewhere to really compare with. So if you're looking for comparative reference points, you'll probably struggle! Also, if you want to be told what to do and how to do it, then you will struggle in our organisation. However, if you're full of great ideas and have a positive mind-set of how to support schools, then please apply! While not working on a completely blank canvas, this role offers a fantastically creative opportunity to make a contribution to the work of schools.

This is a full time position and is available immediately. The hours are 37.5 per week Monday to Friday. While most of the work will be based in Alliance House there will also be meetings and events in schools and conference venues.

Starting salary in the range above £50,000, dependent upon the experience and capabilities of the successful candidate, and their credibility to generate income from their ideas. We use Leicester City Council's payroll services and we also provide free car parking close to the office.

The deadline for applications is Friday 19th May 2017

Interviews will be held on Friday 26th May

The start date is negotiable to start as soon as possible.

Leaders of partnerships and projects to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The SDSA fulfils a number of roles to support improvement and development activity within Leicester, across the East Midlands region and beyond. We were created by the DfES in 2000 but are now owned by Leicester City Council as an arms-length not-for-profit company.

We are a very flexible organisation working with a small core team and growing number of associate partners to deliver against a rapidly-moving and wide-ranging agenda. Several national and regional partners commission us to support their work in key areas.

The following principles and values are crucial to all of the SDSA's work:

• Collaboration - because new possibilities emerge when ideas come together
• Creativity - because experience improves when personal expression matters
• Equalities - because potential is wasted when unnecessary barriers remain
• Participation - because life improves when people are shaping their own future
• Conviction - because life has integrity when both hearts and minds are engaged
