Position Overview:
The Middle School Dean of Academics is a key instructional leader who partners with the Principal to oversee academic programming for approximately 470 students and over 60 faculty. This role focuses on refining curriculum, instruction, and assessment to enhance teaching and learning for understanding.
The Dean of Academics leads MS faculty in curricular coherence, works closely with learning specialists and departmental leaders, evaluates faculty performance, champions professional growth through coaching, and partnership with the Learning Design Center team to develop and implement our guaranteed curriculum. By leveraging data to drive instructional decisions, the Dean fosters a collaborative, student-centered environment and maintains clear communication across the school community.
Leading the Learning
The MS Dean of Academics:
Is part of the MS Administrative team along with the Dean of Students and the Principal engaging in leadership of the Middle School.
Provides intentional learning opportunities aligned with ISB standards, benchmarks, and the Community of Practice.
Collaborates with teams using a growth mindset to improve learning outcomes for all students.
Partners with staff to ensure the social, emotional, and academic success of all students.
Uses a data-informed approach to inform leadership decisions and impact student learning.
Leads teams in applying the principles and practices of highly effective collaborative teams
Guides teacher collaborative teams in using data to inform instruction based on student needs to intentionally plan for differentiation, intervention, and extension.
Oversees the development of a viable master schedule that supports the academic and social emotional growth of MS students.
Engages in ongoing professional development to implement research-supported practices.
Communicates collaboratively with families to enhance student well-being and learning.
Contributes to a positive school culture through shared purpose and community care.
Balances high expectations with comprehensive support systems.
Other duties as requested by the Principal.

Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Minimum of three years of experience as a learning-focused leader
Valid teacher and/or administrative certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous administrative experience
Previous international school experience
Demonstrated success in a multicultural school environment
Experience in staff supervision and performance evaluation
Proven success in instructional improvement and faculty development

International School Bangkok is a mixed, mainstream, all-through with sixth form, international, independent school in Thailand. It has approximately 2,000 students enrolled.
International School Bangkok incorporates the North American and International Baccalaureate diploma. Founded by United Nations and American diplomat parents in 1951, it provided schooling for both primary and secondary education for English-speaking children in Bangkok. The school moved from the US Embassy grounds in 1960 onto Sukhumvit Soi 15 and a second campus was opened seven years later to deal with the increased pupil population. In January 1992, it moved to its current lotion and is overseen by parents who make up members of the school association and are elected to the Board of Trustees.
