About The Minster School

The Minster School is an independent, fully co-educational, day pre-preparatory school for children aged 3 – 13. Standing in the precinct of York Minster, the school boasts a history with roots as far back as 627AD. It is home to 180 pupils including the boy and girl choristers of the Minster Choir. As a department of York Minster, the Minster School is governed by the Chapter of York.

Recent innovations include collaboration with a day care nursery provider who provide 0 – 3year old nursery education within the Minster precinct alongside the school. The School Leadership Team work with other departments of the Minster to provide finance, marketing resourcing people and strategic support. The School community is a vital part of the whole community of the Minster so that staff and families are an integral part of the worshipping and volunteering life of the Cathedral.
