Job overview

The Governors wish to appoint from January 2017 a well-qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated Key Stage 4 Co-Ordinator (with joint Second in Department) for the Science Department.

Hurstmere School is an oversubscribed, non-selective, high performing Specialist Sports and Science Academy for 11-16 year old boys.

Due to its specialist status the Science Department has a high profile within the school and there is a strong ethos of collaboration with other departments to enthuse and support the pupils’ experiences of Science. The department is supportive and forward looking with a strong commitment to high standards. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Science at both KS3 and KS4. Pupils at KS4 study GCSE Science, GCSE Additional Science or GCSE Triple Science.

We seek to appoint a person who has:

  • an ability to teach across all key stages and deliver stimulating lessons
  • a proven record as an excellent classroom practitioner
  • a commitment to raising student achievement
  • leadership and management potential
  • an ability to inspire learning of Science
