Job overview

Are you a Science Teacher looking for a new challenge within secure services? Can you deliver a high quality learning experience and demonstrate that you share our vision and values?

As part of one of the UK's largest independent providers of mental health care, Cygnet Hospital Bury is a fantastic place to build your career. The hospital is currently recruiting for a full-time teacher to work within our adolescent education unit. Our adolescent service users follow a full educational timetable which aims to continue academic progress whilst developing the confidence to cope with reintegration into the community. Teaching happens within a specially designed school unit, equipped with an ICT suite and interactive whiteboards.

We are seeking a Science teacher to deliver Key Stages 3-5 in an individualised learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching on a small group basis, designing and implementing a learning programme for each student, establishing coherent academic plans, recording achievement and liaising with other teachers to plan and organise teaching. Providing evidence of student progress is an important element of the role. Additional duties include attending multidisciplinary meetings and progress report writing.

Work experience within a secure setting would also be desirable, but is not essential. For the right individual, this will be a unique and rewarding position within a forward thinking department, and a company that offers good opportunities for training, development and progression. You should have the ability to engage with hard-to-reach learners with ESMH issues. A good, up-to-date working knowledge of OFSTED Standards is required.

Cygnet Health Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure.
