Introduction to the Role
The Grange School in Santiago, Chile, is seeking to appoint a Science Teacher to join our Upper Prep team as from February 2023. We welcome applications from teachers with at least 3 years of previous experience, in similar roles. Previous international experience, experience in a subject leadership role and knowledge of Spanish would be advantageous.
We expect the ideal candidate to develop engaging and creative lessons that allow all our pupils to thrive in a collaborative, student-centered environment, incorporating STEM and experience-based learning in the classroom.
Job Responsibilities
• Create daily lesson plans and learning activities for students based on the school’s standards in science education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviours.
• Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in different forms: generating discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations and independent practice.
• Differentiate lessons when needed to give all pupils access to the curriculum.
• Evaluate student performance on tasks established by the standards using different methods such as observation, performance-based tasks or other standard test practices.
• Maintain a safe, orderly and supportive classroom by modeling expected behaviour and standards.
• Communicate with form teachers, learning support team, counsellors and parents regarding student progress, potential and behaviour.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in science education or another related field
• Completion of an internship or field experience in secondary education
• Current certification in science education
• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
About The Grange School
The Grange School is a co-educational, independent all-through school with sixth form in Chile, serving pupils from the age of 4-18. The School, situated in La Reina, Santiago has approximately 2,200 pupils on roll.
The Grange School was founded in 1928 and is a bilingual institution, with pupils leaving the school fluent in both Spanish and English. The school enjoys a strong relationship with Britain and the Commonwealth and is affiliated with both the HMC and IAPS, as well as being accredited by the BSO.
