We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Science. You will have good subject knowledge, a passion for Science, and want students to love Science as much as we do. As a member of the Outwood Family, you will share our vision of “Students First”.
This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic, driven professionals to join our Family of Schools at Outwood Academy Adwick. In January 2023, Outwood Academy Adwick was awarded a GOOD grading from Ofsted; they described Adwick as having a “…supportive and caring culture. Staff build warm and friendly relationships with pupils. Pupils achieve their full potential. Pupils know that staff will listen to them if they have a concern. Pupils feel safe and valued at the school. Leaders’ records show that bullying is rare. If it happens, pupils are confident that staff will deal with it quickly.”
We are seeking a practitioner who has excellent knowledge and an understanding of the subject. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of “Students First”.
The department is particularly proud of its inclusive offer to all our Science students at Post 16. Our Post-16 has seen record numbers within our A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics options and Vocational courses (BTEC Forensics Science, BTEC Applied Human Biology and WJEC Medical Science). Excitingly, in September 2023, we embarked on a T-Level route in Heath and are due a considerable remodel of two fantastic spaces for the T-Level, including a mock-up hospital ward. We are looking forward to the opportunity to develop this pathway for our students. Hence, this is a critical appointment for the Academy and is an exciting opportunity for you to move your career onto the next stage.
Our Science department is energetic and forward thinking. We strive to inspire our students but find so often that they end up inspiring us!! We have a wealth of knowledge in the department and an array of 12 specialist teachers who are always willing to share their knowledge and support each other. At the same time, we have three technicians who are specialists in their own field and are always willing to support in class with practicals and demonstrations. We are proud of our team, our relationships with each other and our students.
We believe that all teaching and support staff posts within our Family of Schools are key posts in terms of supporting student success and achievement across a broad range of subjects and experiences. As such, we are keen to recruit dedicated and ambitious professionals who will add value to our Academy in both academic terms and through involvement in the fabric of learning and success beyond the classroom.
This is a permanent Adwick appointment. Subject to curriculum demand, there may be a need for the appointee to work for a period of time at a neighbouring Outwood Academy until a suitable vacancy arises at Adwick.
If you share our vision, then why not join our family?

We are an 11-18 academy based just north of the large, friendly, South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.
We have been a member of the Outwood Family since 2009, and in our 2023 Ofsted inspection the academy was graded Good in all categories. The inspection noted ‘the school has a supportive and caring culture. Staff build arm and friendly relationships with pupils. Pupils achieve their full potential. Staff are proud to work at the school’.
We offer a holistic education that makes learning stimulating, engaging and enjoyable for every student.
The inspectors were equally complimentary about our sixth form provision, with a wide range of courses on offer; including A Levels, vocational qualifications and T-levels.
We have also won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, in addition to being an IQM Centre of Excellence for 3 years, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us.
