Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, child centred, Science teacher to join our amazing team and who will bring vision, ambition, creativity and  dynamism to our vibrant and warm environment.  Howe Green House School is a small co-educational prep school on the Hertfordshire/Essex borders, set in beautiful rural grounds but within easy reach of local towns and set midway between the cities of London and Cambridge.  We are a non-selective school, and our aim is to provide each individual child with a well-rounded, exciting and innovative experience which enables them to reach their individual potential.  We are a school with an exceptionally strong family feel and the beneficial and warm relationships between families and the school are an unusually strong feature.

Science has recently been designated at Howe Green House as a discrete subject area to join the subjects of Sport & PE, DATE (Design, Art, Technology and Engineering), Music, Outdoor Education, all from Reception to Year 6, and Drama & French - currently from year 3.  Form teachers deliver Maths, English, PSHCE and the Humanities (along with drama and French and Spanish in KS1)  and they are responsible for the well-being and pastoral and academic oversight of the children in their year group. Ideally we are seeking a candidate with a specialism in Science, with experience of teaching across the Key Stage 1 & 2 age range, but we are willing to consider primary teachers with experience of, or passion for, teaching Science and who would welcome the ability to focus on this area as a discrete subject.  Investment in facilities and the provision of a Science and Technology Laboratory has been secured and the successful candidate will play a large role in the design process.

The closing date for applications is Monday 3rd June, and interviews will be held later that same week, or early the following week.
