Ateres Girls’ High School is seeking to appoint an inspiring and dynamic part-time (0.8) science teacher to head the science department in our over-subscribed independent faith school.

The ideal start time for this role is September 2016, however we are also accepting applications for January 2017.

Ateres Girls’ High School was founded in 2011 and caters for girls aged 11-16 from the Orthodox Jewish community of Gateshead. The school prides itself on having staff from a wide range of backgrounds.

We have recently drawn up plans for a new spacious science Lab and this is currently going through the planning process. We are very keen for our Science teacher to be actively involved in helping design the internal layout of the Lab.
The person appointed will have excellent subject knowledge and will possess an outstanding ability to maintain classroom discipline through dynamic and inspirational teaching. Some previous experience is required at teaching KS4 Science GCSE.

Ateres Girls High School is a high-achieving, girls-only, non-selective, Jewish secondary school without sixth form situated in the Felling area of Gateshead. It is an independent school with many of its pupils entering from primary education at a local independent Jewish primary school. Smaller than average in size for a school of its type, the school will provide 250 places for secondary school students between the ages of 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The school opened as a new provision in April 2012 since which it has seen a number of different expansions. The principal and deputy headteacher took up their posts in September 2015.
